Welcome! My name is Rachel Sherlock. I am a writer living and working in Dublin, Ireland.
To answer the question I get asked most frequently: yes my name really is Sherlock, and what's more I do in fact share a flat with a friend called Watson, but we have yet to solve any mysteries.
I love language and literature and exploring my Catholic faith. At university I studied music and English, and went on to do a Masters in Viking and Anglo-Saxon Studies, where I did my dissertation on dragons.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, my favourite author is J.R.R. Tolkien, followed by Flannery O'Connor, T.S. Eliot, and G. K. Chesterton. I am fascinated by myth and legends, as well as gothic fiction and detective stories. I mainly read classic literature but I also love exploring translated literature from all over the world.
On this website you will find the various projects I am working on. You can find the articles I've written along with links to my podcast, Risking Enchantment. Click the buttons below to discover more. Enjoy!
